Job Summary

Assist in all phases of personal injury cases from intake to resolution, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, and wrongful death claims
Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and demand packages
Participate in client interviews, case evaluations, and preparation of medical chronologies
Prepare and respond to discovery, subpoenas, and settlement correspondence
Represent clients in hearings, depositions, and mediations under attorney supervision
Support trial preparation, including exhibit organization, witness prep, and courtroom logistics
Maintain regular and compassionate communication with clients regarding case updates and next steps
Work closely with senior attorneys to develop litigation strategies and settlement negotiations

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Answer multi-line phone system, route calls appropriately, and take detailed messages
  • Speak with potential clients and conduct a thorough intake utilizing our case management software
  • Schedule and confirm client appointments and meetings for attorneys and staff
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, deliveries, and courier services
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
  • Assist with current clients cases by sending out initial letters to various insurance companies
  • Support office staff with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, scanning, and document handling
  • Ensure strict confidentiality of all client and case information
  • Handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Maine 
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral advocacy skills with proficiency in legal research software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously
  • Passion for helping injured clients and a commitment to client service
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in personal injury law (e.g., clinic, internship, or law clerk role)
  • Familiarity with personal injury case management software (Clio)
